Richard (biomedical engineer prior to brain disorder)
I had a brain disorder for two or three years. It led me to lose my wife and my house. Now I'm involved with social services. At first I had a worker devoted to me, and she helped take me to doctors appointments and helped me with my basic needs cause I do have difficulty. I don't know if funding changed but she got assigned to something else and I got dumped. They did replace her, but it certainly wasn't the level of care I had. It's more difficult. I have missed appointments.
The first case worker was helpful and I would say I had at least a decent life, and now I find myself more on the streets trying to get food, etc. I have a place to live but I don't have everything I need. The new caseworker is trying to do the job of two people. Thank god for the missions. They're the only ones keeping people alive out here.
